The department of Bioscience & Research offers two under-graduate
courses and one post graduate course in Biotechnology. The department of
Microbiology came in to existence in the year 1993 and Biotechnology
in the year 2008, to promote higher education in the field of
Bioscience.
A PG course was introduced in Biotechnology in the year
2002, M.Phil in the year 2004 & Ph.D in Biotechnology (FT/PT)in the
year 2007. The untiring efforts of 14 faculty members have progressed
and have achieved significant growth.
The Bio science laboratories are
well equipped with excellent infrastructure facilities. The department
offers three UGC sponsored career oriented courses. We are the first to
introduce certificate courses in nanomedicine under the colleges
affiliated to Bharathiar university, Coimbatore.
The ongoing research
programmes include
- Microbial degradation,
- Enzymology,
- Molecular pathogenesis,
- Bioinformatics &
- Bionanotechnology.
We have been
conducting national level symposium “SYMBIOS” from 2004 and till
date we have conducted seven symposia.
